The municipality of Brig-Glis (CH) wants to preserve their historic irrigation channels in and around the city. Knowledge about their maintenance is gradually being lost. With inter-generational workshops, the municipality wants to raise awareness and provide information on the importance, preservation and maintenance of the water channels. This gives an opportunity to pass on centuries-old knowledge and use their potential in modern climate adapted spatial planning measures. Their revitalisation and unsealing shall provide cooling, especially in summer, help to manage an increasingly scarce resource, protect against natural hazards and provide high quality outdoor space.
