Tolmin (SLO) wants to develop green infrastructure in a central part of the city centre around busy streets and a school complex. In the spirit of the Territorial Agenda 2030, this opportunity shall not only be used to raise awareness on climate, green infrastructure and slow mobility, but to actually involve citizens in the planning and realisation process. This combines the specialist knowledge of spatial planning and urbanism with citizens’ needs and desires. In the long-term the experience will help re-designing other urban spaces and planning strategies towards a healthier environment and more sustainable connections. The project is in line with further strategies such as the “tree management” plan and the existing low-carbon regional strategy.
