At the core of the new sustainable mobility strategy of Sonthofen (DE) is the intensely used city centre. A conflict between bicycles and pedestrians obstructs the transition to the low-carbon mobility concept. Such conflicts need to be addressed carefully to enable transition and encourage mutual acceptance. This means not only transparently communicating the goals and benefits of the strategy, but also implementing a participatory process together with the citizens. Through the collaboration with its citizens, the city would like to improve the uptake of their needs and find better solutions supported by all.
